With everything we do at the Pandoo Club, we make sure that the kids are involved in one way or another. The staff even found a way to include the kids in the process of writing our annual report.
Em, our Operations Manager, is a Mass Communications graduate. On January 13, 2016, she held a short introduction to journalism workshop with a focus on interviews. At first, the kids were restless. I think they weren’t sure what the talk had to do with them. But we prepared a fun activity to get them involved — an interview with the Pandoo Club staff!
The kids were very excited about the opportunity to ask their teachers and guardians questions about their job at Pandoo. We gave the kids some sample questions to help them get started. When they interviewed us, we couldn’t help but be impressed by the questions they came up with.
Here are some of their questions:
- Why was Pandoo Foundation built for kids?
- What changes did you experience in your life when you entered this Foundation?
- If you were given a chance to become the coordinator of Pandoo Foundation, what would be your first move?
- What is/are your favorite moment/s in Pandoo?
- How will you encourage us to become volunteers?
The interview activity, as simple as it was, was very telling of how brave, curious, and enthusiastic kids can be. The room buzzed with the energy and enthusiasm of the Pandoo kids. They asked questions that made the Pandoo staff pause and reflect.
It really is amazing what kids can do when you give them the chance to play an active role in activities. This is why we design our programs the way we do. Positive change can happen when we empower kids with values and skills that can enhance their lives and the lives of the people around them.
